Who we are
This website is run by the Memphis Dawah Association (Whitehaven Kulliye), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Memphis, Tennessee. This policy explains what information we collect through the website, why, and how we protect it.
Information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us:
- Accounts: your name, email, and password (stored only as a secure hash). Volunteers and sponsors may also add a phone number, organization, address, and skills.
- Donations: your name, email, amount, fund, payment method, and any reference or note you provide.
- Service applications and sign-ups: what you enter in a program form, such as food assistance, class enrollment, workshop registration, vendor applications, or a request for help. For students under 18 we also ask for a parent or guardian's name, contact details, and consent.
- Forms and messages: what you send through the contact or volunteer forms, volunteer applications, and messages to our team.
We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies.
Card payments
Card donations are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never reaches our servers. Saved payment preferences in your account keep only the type, a nickname, and the last four digits.
How we use your information
- To run your account, sign you in, and reset your password.
- To record donations, send receipts, and provide yearly tax acknowledgment letters.
- To review volunteer applications and reply to your messages and forms.
- To process service applications and sign-ups, and to contact you (or a student's parent or guardian) about them.
- To send emails related to these activities. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information. It is shared only with the services that run this website: Vercel (hosting and image storage), Neon (database), Stripe (card payments), and Google Workspace (email delivery, and a copy of service requests in a Google Sheet that only our staff can access). We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Browser storage
When you sign in, a login token is saved in your browser so you stay signed in; signing out removes it. The site also remembers, for the current visit only, which announcements you have dismissed.
Security and retention
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, and only approved administrators can see member and donation records. We keep donation records as long as tax and nonprofit rules require, and other information for as long as your account is active or as needed to serve you.
Your choices
You can update your profile at any time from your dashboard. To get a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your account, contact us and we will respond promptly. Some donation records must be kept for legal reasons.
Children
Our youth programs collect a student's information only together with a parent or guardian's contact details and consent. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 without that consent. Parents or guardians can contact us at any time to review or remove their child's information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
